Congregation Merkaz offers Jewish educational classes for both adults and youth.
The educational curriculum and classes are referred to as Limud, which means “study” in Hebrew.
Adult Limud Description

Adult Bar/Bat Mitzvah Classes

Youth Limud Program Description and Details:
Limud classes for grades 1st – 3rd meet on select Sundays from 10 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.
Limud classes and Hebrew instruction for grades 4th – 7th meet on select Sundays from 9 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.
Merkaz’ Limud Teachers include:
Rabbi Erica Burech, who aptly leads the B’nai Mitzvah Hebrew course, helping our students prepare as a group for their upcoming simcha. All of our students will benefit from Rabbi Erica’s instruction utlizing our Chai Curriculum this year. In addition, Rabbi Erica facilitates our school-wide interactive T’fillah. Rabbi Erica comes to Merkaz having worked for Pardes Jewish Day School, at Jewish Summer Camp, and as a Limud Director.
מורה Erica Schwartz leads the school wide Hebrew program, which our students–grades 4th through 7th–participate in. The program includes individualized instruction facilitated by our Jewth group members (Middle and High School aged youth) as well as more traditional group instruction in prayer study. Morah Erica will lead an instructional lesson on Jewish Values–Middot, for our limud students this school year. Erica has more than 10 years experience teaching all levels of limud from kindergarten through 6th grade, as well as facilitating family education courses. Erica has served as the Director of Limud for Congregation Merkaz Ha-Iyr since 2012.
מורה Ethan Curry supervises our Jewth group students as they work with our Hebrew program, as well as, leads the Jewth (Youth) Group for our post-B’nai Mitzvah students. This year, Ethan will also be tasked with leading discussions and lessons that will allow some of our Jewth Groupers to complete their Confirmation studies and officially graduate from Limud. Ethan just finished law school at ASU. This is Ethan’s third year leading our Jewth Group at Merkaz.
מורה Brennan Bayless-Feldman is a Merkaz limud graduate and is a wonderful addition to our teaching staff. Brennan will be serving as a limud teacher, assisting with all of the education activities during limud, teaching Hebrew to some of our youngest students, and lending his laid-back nature to our organized chaos! Brennan is currently a student at Phoenix College and this is his third year teaching limud for Merkaz.
